The Unomundi App Terms and Conditions

Read this first

These Terms and Conditions are a legal contract between you and Unomundi Ltd. They cover how you and the children in your care can use the Unomundi app and our website.

The Unomundi app is designed for children aged 6 to 12. The contract for using Unomundi is between us and the parent or legal guardian, not the child. A child cannot enter into this contract. By creating a Guardian account, paying for a subscription, or linking to a child's Explorer profile, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and that you accept these Terms on their behalf as well as your own.

There is also a separate Privacy Policy that explains how we look after personal data. Please read that too. It is at unomundi.com/privacy-policy-app.

There is a separate, simpler set of House Rules written for children themselves. We recommend you go through those with your child the first time they use the app.

1. Who we are

The Unomundi app and website are operated by:

Unomundi Ltd, a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales (company number [TBC, in formation]).

Registered office: 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA

Unomundi Ltd is wholly owned by Una's World Holding Limited (UK Company No. 17032480).

You can reach us at:

In these Terms, "Unomundi", "we", "us" and "our" mean Unomundi Ltd. "You" means the parent or legal guardian who has accepted these Terms. "Explorer" means the child or children in your care who use the app under your account. "Una" means our conversational AI character.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating a Guardian account, downloading or installing the app, linking to an Explorer profile, or buying a subscription, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your country, if higher)

  • You are the parent or legal guardian of every Explorer linked to your account

  • You have read and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy

  • The information you have given us is accurate

If you do not accept these Terms, please do not use the service.

3. The service we provide

Unomundi is an interactive learning experience that helps children aged 6 to 12 explore other countries and cultures. It includes:

  • Educational lessons grouped by country

  • Una, an AI guide who can talk and chat with the Explorer (only if you turn this on)

  • A "travelbook" where the Explorer collects favourites and progress

  • Badges, ambassador tracks, and other gamified features

  • For Guardians: account management, Explorer settings, optional summaries of Explorer activity

We may improve, change, or remove individual features over time. We will tell you in advance about any change that materially affects what you have paid for.

4. Eligible Explorers and how accounts work

4.1. Explorer profiles

A child can create a basic Explorer profile to start exploring the app on their device, without us collecting personally identifiable data about them at that stage. The Explorer profile is intended for children aged 6 to 12. Two features are off until you, the Guardian, link to the Explorer profile and turn them on:

  • Conversational AI with Una (separate Conversational AI Usage Terms apply)

  • Subscriptions and any payments

4.2. Linking your Guardian account

You become the Guardian of an Explorer profile by linking to it from your Guardian account. We use email-based one-time-password verification to confirm you are who you say you are, and you must declare that you are the legal guardian of the child. We may, at any time, ask you to verify your identity through a third-party identity service if we believe this is necessary to protect children using the app.

4.3. Multiple Explorers

A single Guardian account may be linked to multiple Explorer profiles, for example for siblings. Each Explorer is treated separately for safety, settings, and progress.

4.4. Misappropriated consent

If you believe an Explorer account was set up using your child's identity by someone other than you, the legitimate guardian, please contact us at privacy@unomundi.com. We will investigate, suspend the account pending review, and follow our documented misappropriated-consent policy.

5. Subscriptions, free trials, and payment

5.1. Free and paid features

Some features of Unomundi are free. Others, including extended content, the Conversational AI feature, and certain Guardian tools, are available only with a paid subscription.

5.2. How you subscribe

You subscribe through the app store on your device (Apple App Store or Google Play). The subscription is purchased through your app store account, billed by the app store, and managed through your app store settings. Subscription terms, including price, billing cycle, and renewal, are shown clearly at the point of purchase.

When you subscribe, the screen will display the total price including any taxes, the billing cycle, what is included, and your right to withdraw (see Section 7). The button to confirm the purchase is clearly labelled to indicate that placing the order entails a payment obligation.

5.3. Free trials

If we offer a free trial, the conditions for the trial (length, what's included, what happens at the end) will be shown at the point of sign-up. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged the regular subscription price at the end of the trial. You can cancel at any time during the trial through your app store settings.

5.4. Renewals

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel. We will remind you before each renewal where required by law. You can turn off automatic renewal at any time through your app store settings.

5.5. Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. You will continue to have access to paid features until that point.

We do not put unnecessary hurdles in your way. There is no phone call required, no retention email you must read through, no emotional plea designed to slow you down.

5.6. Price changes

If we change the price of an existing subscription, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance. If you do not accept the new price, you can cancel before the change takes effect.

5.7. Refunds

The app store handles refund requests in line with the app store's own policies. Where refund rights are mandatory under your local consumer-protection law (for example, the 14-day digital-services withdrawal right described in Section 7 below), those rights apply.

6. The Conversational AI feature (Una)

6.1. AI gating

The Conversational AI feature is off by default for every Explorer profile. To turn it on, you must:

  • Be linked to the Explorer profile as Guardian

  • Read and accept our separate Conversational AI Usage Terms

  • Confirm you understand that Una is an AI, not a real person, and that conversations are processed and may be reviewed for safety

You can turn the Conversational AI feature off again at any time from your Guardian settings.

6.2. What Una is

Una is an artificial intelligence character. She is designed to be a guide for cultural exploration. She is not:

  • A real person

  • A friend in the human sense

  • A teacher, doctor, therapist, or any other professional

  • A substitute for adult supervision

We make this clear to your Explorer in age-appropriate language at the start of their first conversation with Una, and we re-state it whenever the Explorer asks Una for something she isn't built for (for example, medical advice, advice that should come from a real adult, or a relationship Una can't actually offer). A persistent visual indicator in the chat interface confirms throughout that they are speaking with an AI. This approach meets and exceeds Article 50(1) of the EU AI Act.

6.3. What Una will not do

Una is built within strict safety constraints. She will not provide harmful content, will not keep secrets from you (with the limited exception in Section 6.4), and will not ask the Explorer for personally identifiable information.

6.4. The safeguarding override

If an Explorer discloses to Una that they are being harmed by you, the linked Guardian, or by another adult in the home, Una will not notify you. Instead, the disclosure is escalated to our internal Child Wellbeing Team only, who follow local mandatory reporting laws. Una will encourage the child to seek help from a trusted adult outside the home. We tell you about this in plain terms here, and in the Conversational AI Usage Terms, because honesty about it is part of how the system protects children.

6.5. AI-generated content

Content generated by Una or other AI features within the app is marked as AI-generated where required by law. From 2 August 2026, all such content will carry machine-readable provenance metadata in line with EU AI Act Article 50.

7. Your right to withdraw

This section applies if you are a consumer in the UK or EU.

You have a statutory right to withdraw from your subscription within 14 days of the date you subscribed, without giving a reason.

For digital services like Unomundi, you can lose this withdrawal right if you have:

  • Given your express consent to start using the service immediately

  • Acknowledged that you lose your right of withdrawal once the service starts

  • Been provided with confirmation of both of the above on a durable medium (for example, an email order confirmation)

If you have not waived your withdrawal right, you can withdraw by contacting us at withdrawal@unomundi.com or, post beta, through the dedicated withdrawal button in the app or on our website. We will refund any amounts due within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice.

If you waived your withdrawal right and want to stop using the service, you can cancel at any time as set out in Section 5.5.

8. Acceptable use

You and your Explorer agree that you will not:

  • Use the service in a way that breaks the law or these Terms

  • Try to access parts of the service you are not authorised to access

  • Try to disrupt, damage, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service or its security features

  • Attempt to extract data from the service in bulk, including by scraping, crawling, or automated means

  • Upload or share content that infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights

  • Use the service to harass, harm, or impersonate others

  • Use the service to ask Una or any AI feature to produce content that is unlawful, abusive, sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise harmful

  • Attempt to bypass content filters or safety guardrails

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these rules. For Explorer behaviour, we will normally contact you, the Guardian, first to give you a chance to address it. For serious breaches affecting the safety of other users, we may act immediately.

9. Reporting problems

If you find a bug, see content that you believe shouldn't be in the app, or notice anything that worries you, please tell us:

Our notice-and-takedown process for reported intellectual-property or content concerns: we will acknowledge your report within 2 working days, investigate, and where the report is justified, remove the content as soon as we reasonably can. We may also take steps to prevent repeat uploads of the same material.

10. Intellectual property

10.1. Our content

The Unomundi app, the Una character, our content, our software, our designs, our logos, and our brand are owned by Unomundi Ltd or our licensors. They are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and its content for your and your Explorer's personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You may not copy, redistribute, modify, sell, or commercially exploit any part of the app or its content. You may not use the Una name, character, or likeness for any purpose without our written permission.

10.2. Your content

If your Explorer creates content within the app, for example a drawing, a recording, or a contribution to their travelbook, that content remains yours (or your Explorer's). By creating it within the app, you give us a limited, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process it as needed to operate the service for you. We do not use Explorer content for advertising or for any external purpose.

10.3. AI training

We do not use any Explorer content, including conversations with Una, to train third-party AI models. We may use moderated, human-reviewed conversation extracts to improve Una's safety and quality, but only if you have opted in to that under the Conversational AI Usage Terms. You can withdraw that opt-in at any time without losing access to the service.

10.4. AI output

Output generated by Una or other AI features is, in most cases, not protected by copyright in the UK or EU. We do not claim ownership of AI output beyond what we need to operate the service. You may use AI output for personal, non-commercial purposes consistent with these Terms.

11. Privacy and data

How we handle personal data is set out in full in our Privacy Policy at unomundi.com/privacy. By accepting these Terms, you also acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

A few key points worth flagging here:

  • We will not sell your or your Explorer's personal data, ever

  • We will not use your or your Explorer's personal data for behavioural advertising or profiling, ever

  • The app is ad-free at the time of these Terms, and any future advertising will not be targeted or based on profiling of children or families

  • You can request access, correction, or deletion of personal data through Settings or by emailing trust@unomundi.com

  • Some narrow categories of data, specifically verifiable parental consent records and safeguarding logs, must be retained for a longer period after account deletion under UK law. The Privacy Policy explains this in detail.

12. Service availability

We aim to keep the service available and working well. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. We may take the service down for maintenance, updates, or safety reasons. Where reasonably possible, we will give you notice in advance.

We do not guarantee compatibility with every device or operating system. The current minimum technical requirements are listed at unomundi.com/support.

13. Our liability to you

This section sets out the limits of our legal responsibility. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it cannot be limited or excluded under English law, including liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

  • Any breach of your statutory rights as a consumer

Subject to the above:

  • We are responsible for losses you suffer as a result of our breach of these Terms or our negligence, but only where those losses are a foreseeable result of the breach

  • We are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or that is not connected to our breach

  • For paid subscribers, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the amount you paid us in that period

  • We are not liable for issues caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control (force majeure)

We provide the service for personal and family use. We are not responsible for any business losses, including loss of profits, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.

14. Suspending or ending your account

14.1. By you

You can stop using the service and close your account at any time through Guardian settings or by emailing trust@unomundi.com. The retention of data after account closure is described in our Privacy Policy.

14.2. By us

We may suspend or close your account if:

  • You materially breach these Terms or our Acceptable Use rules

  • We are required to do so by law or by a regulator

  • Continued provision of the service to you would create a serious safeguarding risk to the Explorer or to others

In most cases, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to address the issue. For serious safeguarding risks, we may act immediately.

14.3. What survives

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, liability, governing law, and dispute resolution) continue to apply after your account is closed.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, new laws, or feedback from users. If we make material changes, we will tell you in advance by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms tells you when we last changed anything.

If you do not accept the changes, you can close your account before they take effect. By continuing to use the service after the change, you accept the new Terms.

16. If you are unhappy

We want to know. Please contact us first at hello@unomundi.com so we have the chance to put things right. Most concerns are resolved quickly this way.

If you remain unhappy and you are a UK consumer, you may have the right to refer the dispute to an alternative dispute resolution body. We will provide details on request.

You also have the right to make a complaint to your data protection authority about how we handle personal data. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the service will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer based in another country, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, in line with mandatory consumer protection laws.

18. Other things you should know

18.1. Whole agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms (for example, the Conversational AI Usage Terms), are the whole agreement between you and us on this subject. They replace any earlier discussions or arrangements.

18.2. If a part doesn’t work

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the Terms continue to apply.

18.3. We can transfer this contract

We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another business, for example as part of a corporate reorganisation. We will tell you if we do, and your rights under these Terms will not be reduced.

18.4. You cannot transfer this contract

You cannot transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else.

18.5. No third party rights

Other than rights specifically given to your Explorer through your Guardian acceptance, no third party has any right to enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

18.6. Languages

These Terms are written in English. We may provide translations for convenience. If there is any conflict between the English version and a translation, the English version applies.
